Fishhook Pincushion cacti (Mammillaria grahamii) can bloom multiple times after rains. Flowers form a ring around the top, but single blossoms can be found as well.

We've all seen a cacti growing in the cricks and crevasses of other cacti. This is the first time I've seen a pincushion growing on a barrel cactus. I found this relationship in an area having a lot of tree cover near the fence line going out to the dam. Looks like enough debris has fallen on the barrel cactus [Anne says: the barrel cactus is leaning quite a bit, making a relatively flat surface] to give the pincushion a home.
