Angie and friends saw these blobs in abundance on Monday, 4/4/11, on the east side of the creek, between the Dam Bridge and the Bear Bridge, in shallow, still water. David Lazaroff responded to Angie's request for i.d.: "Looks to me like cyanobacteria. Some forms are gelatinous like this, and some colonies take on spherical shapes. Cyanobacteria are photosynthetic bacteria, formerly called blue-green algae. They're a very ancient form of life." Anne says: See this post.
